ABOUT THE DOCTOR

 

Dr. James B. Carr has been in practice on the Central Coast for over 20 years and has performed thousands of spine surgeries. His practice is solely dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of back and neck problems in adult and pediatric patients.

 

Dr. Carr graduated medical school from Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine in 1996. He completed both a master's degree in biology and bachelor's degree in cellular and molecular biology from California State University, Northridge.

 

For three years during his master's degree program, Dr. Carr also ran the neurophysiology lab of Dr. Rick Delamarter at UCLA. Spinal cord research while at UCLA resulted in publications as well as national and international research awards. These included the 1991 Volvo Award from the International Society for the study of the lumbar spine, New Investigator Recognition Award in 1991 by the Orthopaedic Research Society, AcroMed Award in 1991 and 1993 for outstanding research by the North American Spine Society.

 

Dr. James Carr completed his orthopaedic residency at University of Kansas School of Medicine in 2001. He completed his spine fellowship at University of California, Davis in Sacramento.

 

Dr. James Carr is currently practicing in Atascadero, CA.
